President Rodrigo Duterte signed on Monday, February 17, Executive Order (EO) 104 that sets a cap on the prices of medicines. The order imposes price regulations through a maximum retail price (MRP) and maximum wholesale price (MWP) system on certain drugs and medicines. “Access to affordable and quality drugs and medicines is now a reality under the Duterte administration. Go, chairman of the Senate Health and Demography committee, earlier pledged to bring the issue with Duterte. The group, however, warned that with the order, innovative drugs or new medicines and vaccines “would likely not be introduced in the Philippines.”
