JOHN NICHOLSON Pūkaha conservation manager Todd Jenkinson says the new traps will be concentrated to boost kōkako numbers. Pūkaha Mt Bruce has been a protected forest restoration area since the late 1940s. Pūkaha is hopeful that it can achieve the kind of success experienced in other reserves using Goodnature traps. The successful Goodnature traps automatically reset themselves after striking a pest and can kill up to 24 rats between gas canister replacements.
