GEORGE TOWN: A total of 108 people from 34 families have been evacuated to the Teluk Kumbar Community Hall due to rising flood waters in the area. Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Penang director Kol Pang Ah Lek said the residents from Teluk Kumbar were evacuated due to fears that the water level would rise further with the incessant rain since early Thursday. Pang said with the prediction of continuous rain and high tide, it was best for the families to move to the relief centre.
