SIBU: A 61-year old man has been taken into custody for allegedly raping an underage girl in Dalat, about two hours by boat from here. Dalat OCPD Assist Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang said the case came to light after the mother of the 15-year-old girl lodged a police report on Wednesday, claiming that the man had raped her daughter. Police went to the man's house near Kampung Medong that night itself and arrested him, ASP Awang said on Thursday. The suspect was produced at the Sessions Court in Dalat on Thursday where he was remanded for four days. The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which is punishable with imprisonment for up to 20 years and a whipping.
