The World Health Organisation estimates that 1.3 billion adults worldwide are overweight, and a further 600 million are obese. "With two thirds of Australian adults overweight or obese, this underscores the seriousness of current obesity rates for future life expectancy. New Zealand has one of the highest obesity rates in the world, and Kiwis are dying early because of it. It is the first time that a study of its kind has been carried out, surveying people from four continents.
