According to police reports, a Levies officer was injured during an attack on a polio team in Chaman’s Thekedar area. The attack was led by unknown men, said Chaman Assistant Commissioner (AC) Zakaullah Durrani, adding that the women’s polio team was administering polio drops to children when the attack took place. “The suspects first opened fire at the Levies guard with the team and then fired at the women,” he said, adding that the fortunately, the women quickly took refuge in a house and managed to remain safe. Muhammad Sadiq, the injured officer, was quickly taken to a local hospital where he was given first aid treatment. Around 40 million children under the age of five will be administered polio drops.
