No sign of reprieve for flood-hit Assam


(Reuters) An inundated cropland in Teghoria in Karimganj district. There has been a rise in the water level of the all the three rivers of the district. The Longai and Singla were flowing above their danger level, while the Kushiara is just below its danger level. Sources in the Karimganj water resources division said because of heavy rainfall in past few days in the hilly regions, especially Mizoram, water from various sources has resulted in a substantial swelling of the rivers. The water level of the Kushiara was 14.77 mtres (recorded at 2pm) and its danger level is 14.98 metres.
