Kiambu Governor William Kabogo yesterday won a major court battle after he was cleared of charges of ethnic contempt against communities not practising circumcision. Delivering the judgment in the hate speech case against Kabogo, senior principal magistrate Stella Mutuku said there was no evidence to prove the allegations. The prosecution had alleged that Kabogo said, “Basi nyinyi watu wa magazeti mwambie Raila aache upuzi, aache nini? They told court that Kabogo said small boys in the area should be assisted to undergo circumcision. Mutuku said the prosecution did not prove that Kabogo spoke the words in the clip produced in court.
