No pay rise for council staff, additional leave instead


Horowhenua District Council staff were given four extra days of leave to say thank you for their hard work during lockdown. Horizons Regional Council staff were given one extra day and Palmerston North City Council staff received additional leave on a case-by-case basis. He said staff were granted additional leave on a case-by-case basis to allow those who took on additional duties to transition back to their normal role. Manawatū District Council adopted a 0 per cent increase, abandoning the proposed 4.6 per cent, and Tararua District Council rates increased by 2.5 per cent despite initial plans for a 5.97 per cent rise.
