She is helping to improve the odds for a successful breast reconstruction, thanks to a $228,000 grant from Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, the Health Research Council of New Zealand and Breast Cancer Cure. For many it was the last stage on their breast cancer journey. Breast Cancer Foundation NZ chief executive Evangelia Henderson​ said the study was one of three “hugely promising projects” which “have the potential to turn around the statistics on breast cancer in New Zealand”.
