KUALA LUMPUR: The country's labour productivity has increased to 4.2 per cent, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said. "The increase in labour productivity was contributed by four main sectors which are agriculture (5.2 per cent), manufacturing (5.1 per cent), development (4.8 per cent) and services (3.7 per cent. "Overall, the labour productivity achievement is encouraging and in line with the government's wish to achieve an economy that is driven by productivity. The prime minister said the council has decided that the labour productivity achievement is to be monitored and reported on a quarterly basis. He said the Malaysian Labour Force Statistics Bureau, under the the Statistics Department, will publish the quarterly labour productivity data, whereby the first issue will be launched today.
