Naivas poaches Uchumi’s COO, Tuskys heir

Uchumi has lost its chief operating officer Willy Kimani to rival Naivas, further jeopardising the turnaround plan for the struggling retailer. Kago who has been poached from his immediate family's business, Tuskys, is a grandson of Tuskys founder - the late Joram Kamau. Naivas Supermarket announced yesterday it has appointed Kimani to the high-ranking COO position owing to his vast experience in the retail business. “The immediate former chief operating officer of Uchumi Supermarkets Limited returns to Naivas where he was head of marketing, ICT and business development eight months ago. We are very excited to get him back and look forward to working with him to drive Naivas to greater heights,” Naivas Supermarket chairman Simon Mukuha said in a statement.
