Okyere Baafi stated that the NPP made the right decision by electing former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as its flagbearer for the 2028 general elections, noting that the party’s branding, ideology and public image over the years have been mainly associated with Dr Bawumia. He explained that, given Dr Bawumia’s long-standing role in shaping the party’s economic narrative and national appeal, there was no justification for changing a candidate of such calibre at this critical stage of the party’s political journey. The MP further emphasised that the New Patriotic Party’s political tradition is anchored on consistency, strong principles and continuity, adding that the election of Dr Bawumia reflects the party’s unwavering commitment to these values.
