THE director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bulacan and four others were arrested for alleged extortion in Makati City, police said on Friday. The suspects were identified as Bulacan NBI Director Ruther Mendoza and his alleged accomplices Jonar Diga, Marcelino Bulacan, Kim Jeric and Dina Joson. The entrapment operation stemmed from a complaint Makati Police received from an unidentified Chinese businessman that Mendoza tried to extort money from him for a P54 million project. Police set up the trap at the Seda Hotel in Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City where Mendoza and his accomplices were arrested at 1 p.m. on Thursday. The suspects are under the custody of Makati City Police.
