NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — Two soldiers were killed while another was injured when a truck carrying them and several civilians plunged into a ravine in Arakan town on Thursday. Superintendent Aldrin Gonzalez, spokesman of the Police Regional Office-12, said the two soldiers killed in the accident belong to the Army’s 19th Infantry Battalion. Barangay Meocan is a hinterland area southeast of Arakan. Gonzalez said the driver of the ill-fated truck lost control when he tried to avoid an approaching motorcycle from the opposite end of the narrow farm-to-market road. The accident injured a companion of the two Army fatalities, the truck driver and several others.
