SUNGAI PETANI: A mother braved through rain and floodwaters with her 22-day-old baby as she fled her house in Taman Sinar Mentari (Phase B) in Bedong here yesterday. At about 9.30pm , Salmi Yusuf, 39, said she and her family had to wade in waist-high floodwaters in the rain while carrying her newborn. "We did not even manage to pack enough clothes and save our valuables including our car. "I fear that the cold and wet weather will affect my children's health, especially the newborn, who was also exposed to the rain yesterday," she said. Salmi said her family was watching the Malaysia Cup football final game when water inundated her housing area after about 30 minutes of heavy rain.
