However only 67 per cent rated Canada’s importance in global food security as very important. Those in the 18 to 34 age group were significantly less likely than older generations to say Canadian farmers are very important, both for domestic and global food security, the survey found. The poll also found that only 13 per cent of Canadians see agriculture as more innovative than other domestic industries and 16 per cent were unaware of how farmers support sustainability, down from nearly one quarter of Canadians in 2021.
