More than 137,800 receive coronavirus shots in Britain

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine being administered needs a second jab several weeks later for full effectiveness. Britain’s new vaccines minister, Nadhim Zahawi, said Wednesday that 137,897 people had received a vaccination shot since inoculations began. The government, which is providing the vaccine free of charge mainly at hospitals so far, is first targeting nursing home workers and elderly people over 80. Nursing home residents are now being vaccinated as well after issues relating to the transportation of the vaccine, which needs to be kept at super-cold temperatures, were addressed. In seven days, Zahawi said the number of doses administered were:108,000 in England7,897 in Wales4,000 in Northern Ireland18,000 in ScotlandThe Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine being administered needs a second jab several weeks later for full effectiveness.-AP/Sky News.
