Cathay Pacific warns of bigger second half loss


Cathay Pacific (0293) warned today that second-half loss would be "significantly higher" than the first half loss of nearly HK$9.87 billion. Revenue passenger kilometers fell by 97.9 percent year-on-year. Passenger load factor dropped by 61.5 percentage points to 18.5 percent, while capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, dropped by 90.9 percent. Cathay Pacific Group Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Ronald Lam said: “We are still not seeing any meaningful improvement in our passenger business. Cathay Pacific carried 116,853 tons of cargo and mail last month, a drop of 34.3 percent year-on-year, as the month’s revenue freight ton kilometers fell by 26.2 percent year-on-year.
