The Moi University staff have protested against the reinstatement of Prof Richard Mibei as vice chancellor. University Academic Staff Union secretary Jack Okumu said they will not accept Mibei’s return. Mibei left the university two weeks ago after his term ended, but he returned on Friday last week under unclear circumstances. The more than 3,000 members drawn from the University Academic Staff Union and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers demonstrated around the Eldoret-based university on Monday, chanting ‘Mibey must go!’. University Council chairman Prof Jenesio Kimanyiro and Mibei could not be reached to comment.
