Dairy Board asks vendors to follow rules on handling milk

Kenya Dairy Board chief inspector Evans Mwangi yesterday said the board will take stern action against milk vendors who violate dairy guidelines. The board officials also seized 2,000 litres of unsafe milk which will be tested in the Dairy Lab before being disposed of. Six of them were charged with various offences ranging from lack of licences, transportation and packaging of milk in unhygienic containers and selling unsafe milk mixed with preservatives. The Dairy Regulator has advised product vendors to obey laws and rules to avoid confrontations with inspection officials. He spoke to the press after an early morning operation on illicit milk trade in Ruiru and parts of Thika town.
