Kenya’s APB boxer Nickson Abaka aka ‘King Abaka’ lost a hotly contested bout on Monday evening to Faraci Davide of Switzerland. With the five—Aziz, Abaka, Simon Mulinge, Elly Ajowi and Nick Okoth—out of contention, Benson Gicharu was scheduled to square it out with Padilla Bennett of Ecuador in yesterday’s evening session. Flyweight Simon Mulinge was the third Kenyan boxer to kiss the Azerbaijan event goodbye after losing to Mohammadanpour Sejad of Iran on points. Aziz Ali, who featured in the Beijing qualifiers in 2008 also lost in the late Monday matches. Abaka qualified for the 2008 Olympics but failed to honour the event in Beijing following an injury he picked up during a military sports extravaganza in Uganda.
