In the event that an Asantehene dies, the Asante Mamponghene serves as the Regent of Asanteman until a new king is enstooled. Below is a brief profile of the man who is now occupying the Silver Stool of Asanteman. The new Asante Mamponghene was nominated by the queen mother of the Asante Mampong Traditional Area (Asante Mamponghemaa), Nana Agyakoma Difie II, to succeed Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who died in April 2025. The 51-year-old Asante Mamponghene was born on March 14, 1974.
