The Alliance Group paused processing at its plants on Wednesday morning, so level four protocols could be put in place for workers. (File photo)Some meat processing plants closed temporarily on Wednesday to put social distancing protocols in place, and others are working at a reduced capacity after the level four lock down was announced. Supplied Alliance Group chief executive David Surveyor says processing capacity across the company’s plants will be reduced under level four lock down protocols. “All the barriers we use for social distancing were put in place in our plants last night [Tuesday],’’ he said. The last Level 4 lock down in Southland was in autumn last year, when stock was being moved or sent to processing plants.
