Family of five facing three-flight, 12-hour race home after Covid-19 lockdown cuts short snowboarding holiday

Twins Parker and Beckham, Yvonne, John and Brooke Kennedy are trying to get back to New Plymouth from Queenstown. A Taranaki family whose week-long Queenstown snowboarding trip was cut short by the Covid-19 lockdown announcement spent all of Tuesday night trying to find a way home within the 48-hour window. The family only arrived in Queenstown on August 15 for their week-long snowboarding holiday, which had been planned for months to celebrate John’s 47th birthday on Sunday. “It kinda sucks we didn't get to go snowboarding,” John said. However, the family had prepared for Covid-19 to potentially play havoc on their holiday, so they had got extra cancellation insurance.
