Mandatory testing before business events may be introduced, Edward Yau said

Event organizers could be required to arrange its staffers and exhibitors to undergo Covid-19 tests beforehand, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau Tang-wah said. Speaking in radio programs today, Yau said that the government would encourage testing before large-scale business events kicked off, and would not rule out the possibility of making it compulsory, in a bid to avoid postponement due to the panemic. For sector-oriented exhibitions with fewer participants, those attending the event might need to be tested for the virus as well. A total of 66 travel agencies had their licenses revoked or did not apply for renewal between January and September, which was similar to the figure last year, according to Yau. He added that the government’s plan to restructure Ocean Park is expected to be announced early next year, without specifying if authorities would provide it with more funding.
