A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after he was spotted going underwater at Chocolate Lake in Halifax. Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency said CPR was administered to the man and that he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries for further care. Martha Paynter was at Chocolate Lake with a bubble friend and their children at the time. Martha Paynter, a nurse who was at Chocolate Lake her with a friend and their children on Wednesday, said a group of lifeguards-in-training helped get the man out of the water. Paynter said the man had been under the water for "quite some time," about 12 minutes or so.
