A man is on life support in hospital after suffering severe head injuries in a suspected ‘one-punch’ attack in a Co Roscommon town. The incident took place at around 1am on New Year’s Day on Barrack St in Ballaghaderreen. A Garda statement said:Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with their investigation into a serious assault at Barrack St, Ballaghadereen, Co Roscommon on January 1. An earlier garda statement said the injured man, aged in his 30s, was in a “critical condition” at Beaumont Hospital. Anyone with video footage (including dashcam) are also asked to make it available to investigating gardaí at Castlerea Garda Station on 094 9621630, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111, or any garda station.
