A police spokeswoman said officers were called to reports of a serious assault on Hills Rd, Mairehau, about 5pm on Sunday. A post on the Mairehau High School Facebook page said on Monday the main school entrance was closed due to an incident outside the school involving members of the public. Harry Romana, principal of Mairehau High School, which is on Hills Rd, said the incident did not involve the school, but an area in front of the school had been cordoned off until about midday Monday.
