A shop keeper has been left with a cut lip and a knocked-out tooth after trying to stop a man from stealing booze. Police were alerted to the incident at the liquor store on Great South Rd, Ngāruawāhia, shortly after 2pm on Tuesday. A man had tried to steal a couple of cases of KGB pre-mixed drinks from the store, Sergeant Tony Field said. When the shopkeeper tried to stop the thief, they were thrown against the car.
