Man arrested after lodging false report to postpone marriage - Nation


BUKIT MERTAJAM (Bernama): A 39-year-old man who tried to postpone his marriage by making up story that he had been robbed of his money and jewellery ended up in big trouble when he was arrested by the police on Wednesday (June 26) for making a false report. "The man claimed as he was walking to a shop when two men on a motorcycle stopped, asking for his help. ACP Nik Ros said following interrogation and inspection at the scene, they found that the incident did not happen and the suspect admitted he was made a false report. The man also admitted to lodging a false report in hopes that he would be able to justify postponing his marriage, he said. ACP Nik Ros added that the investigation papers had been referred to the deputy public prosecutor's office and the man would be charged in the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court on Friday (June 28) under Section 182 of the Penal Code for making false police report.
