An infant died after suffering a serious medical incident during the Toronto Raptors’ championship parade, the city has confirmed. A mother was attending the June 17 festivities on University Ave. at York St., where thousands of fans were gathered. Around 1:30 pm, the mother realized her child was “suddenly unresponsive and called out for help,” according to a joint press release by the city of Toronto and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE). Paramedics came to the infant’s aid, and then two Toronto police officials rushed the child to a nearby hospital. “Reports that neither medics, nor police could get to the baby, are unfounded,” the press release said.
