PETALING JAYA: Malaysia welcomes the adoption of the resolution on Jerusalem made at the United Nations General Assembly Emergency Special Session on Thursday. Malaysia co-sponsored and voted in favour of the resolution in line with its long-standing and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. At the United Nations building in New York on Thursday, Malaysia joined 127 other countries to vote in favour of a UN resolution calling for the United States to drop its recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Nine countries voted against the resolution while 35 others abstained. This came despite President Donald Trump's threat to cut off financial aid to countries that voted in favour of the resolution.
