Mabwi appointed national women’s Under-23 coach

Former Kenyan international attacker Catherine Mabwi has been appointed head coach of the national under-23 women’s team ahead of the Africa Nations Cup slated for October 18-28 in Nairobi. She will be assisted by Kenya Prisons’ women’s side deputy coach Josp Baraza. Mabwi, a former outside hitter with Posta Kenya, boasts of vast experience as an international player and under-18 girls national team coach having guided the age group side4 to bronze medal in Cairo, Egypt in 2014. Once again the men’s under-23 side will not be fielded in the Africa Nations Cup set for October 12-20 in Durban, South Africa. Makokha said the federation was operating with an account balance of less than Sh3m and cannot field two team in continental bonanzas.
