Feel-good film Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom comes to the big screen this month, bringing a new perspective to the idea of ‘remote learning’. Set and filmed in Lunana, in the South Asian country of Bhutan, Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom tells the story of a city-dwelling young teacher, Ugyen, posted to a small school in the remote village. With a population of 56, unreliable electricity and non-existent wifi, Ugyen is less than thrilled about his new, government-mandated job. Commenting on the preview, Keswick Film Festival director said: “I was lucky enough to see Lunana at the ICO screening weekend, when it melted the hearts of some pretty hardened cinema professionals. You can see Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom at the the Keswick Film Festival on February 25.
