Regional News of Monday, 19 January 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comCorrespondence from the Eastern RegionThe Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, led the recognition of 48 distinguished indigenes of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality for their outstanding contributions to the area’s development. The maiden Lower Manya Krobo Excellence Awards ceremony was held at the Laasi Astroturf in Odumase-Krobo and attracted a large gatherings of national, regional and community stakeholders. Addressing the gathering, Terlabi explained that the awards scheme was deliberately created to honour the heroes and heroines of Lower Manya Krobo whose achievements have often gone undocumented. The late Konor (Paramount Chief) of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Oklemekukuza Azu Matey Korley was honoured for his role in the establishment of Manya Krobo Senior High School, while the late R T Madjtey, the first Inspector-General of Police from the area, was celebrated for his profound influence on policing and mentorship within the security services. In a moment of appreciation, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi himself was also presented with an award in recognition of his contributions to the development of Lower Manya Krobo.
