Lord Rothermere has upped his bid to take the publisher of the Daily Mail, i, Metro and New Scientist private to try to win over investors who believe he is significantly undervaluing the business. Those unwilling to sell will be offered shares in the private company. The family, which initially offered 251p in July to take the company private, control 36% of the company through the Jersey-registered holding company Rothermere Continuation Limited (RCL). This means that RCL has received acceptances amounting to 41.8% of all DMGT shares. He set up the Daily Mail with his brother Alfred in 1896, and subsequently launched the Daily Mirror.
