Bayern were considered slight favourites to sign the 23-year-old, but have reportedly turned their attentions towards Manchester City's Leroy Sane, leaving the door open for Liverpool to make an offer. Leipzig value Werner at around £50m, which both Bayern and Liverpool see as excessive for the player. Last season he scored 16 goals in 30 Bundesliga appearances, and he has also won 25 caps for Germany, with a return of 10 goals.
