Lithuanian-born metal artist Lina Varna has fulfilled a long-held dream by opening her own studio at Number 5, Lower Rowe Street Wexford, an area that is developing into the town’s dedicated jewellery quarter. The Oylegate resident and her husband Dainius, a metal sculptor, are both graduates in Metal Design from Vilnius Art Academy. When our three girls graduated from college I quit my day job and started my full-time jewellery adventure. Lina holds jewellery workshops for beginners but is keen to explain that it takes years to fully master jewellery making. As she branches out on her own as a jewellery designer and maker, Lina said she is very grateful to Wexford Arts Office and Wexford Arts Centre for her residency at the Creative Hub and all the support that they provided.
