Mr Takens had bought the laser to cheer up Mrs Takens after her cat died. It was not the cost of replacing the display that angered him, rather it was the brazenness of the theft. The theft of other outdoor Christmas lights in Mosgiel on Tuesday night have been reported on social media. No-one from the Mosgiel police station was able to be contacted yesterday.
