An Auckland woman reliant on a wheelchair is unable to enter her home after her neighbour's chimney crashed through her bedroom wall on Wednesday night. The collapsed chimney had damaged medical equipment and art in Paterson's room, as well as cutting the gas mains and smashing the only wheelchair access to the house. "We've got a place for the kids, but I need somewhere with wheelchair access and that's not easy," she said. Neighbours rallied around Paterson and her family on the footpath after the incident, giving her blankets and tea.
