Langkawi embarks on effort to achieve 'Malaysia Zero AIDS' by 2030

LANGKAWI: Kedah's tourism jewel has emerged as the first island in the country to embark on a campaign to achieve the government's Malaysia Zero AIDS in 2030 campaign. The Getting Langkawi Island to Zero 2030 (GLITZ 2030) campaign was launched by state Health Department director Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail in conjunction with the state-level World Aids Day 2017. Dr Norhizan said GLITZ 2030 is being carried out under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) involving collaborations from various agencies and the private sector, with the aims to achieve zero AIDS cases by 2030. To accomplish the target, Dr Norhizan said a special committee comprising government agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organisations, has been formed. "The action plan has been rolled out through continuous collaboration with the Malaysia AIDS Council and Malaysia AIDS Foundation to curb the spread of AIDS in the island and the country at large," he said.
