JAKARTA: Bugis leader and former Indonesian Law and Human Rights Minister Hamid Awaludin today likened former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to a racist on par with Adolf Hitler. According to Antara news agency, Hamid had echoed Indonesian Vice -President Jusuf Kalla's call for Dr Mahathir to rebuke his statement calling the Bugis "pirates". He said sentiments were clear when the former prime minister uttered those words in his tirade against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last Friday, and as such he sees racism deeply instilled in Dr Mahathir's character. Hamid added that Dr Mahathir can no longer separate himself from being labelled as suffering from post-power syndrome. Hamid claimed that Dr Mahathir does not realise that the Malaysian economy had all this while been driven by the Bugis.
