The JAC has originally planned to hold a rally in the coal town on Thursday in protest against alleged hostile attitude of some Adivasi organisations towards the members of the plains tribe community. The constituent organisations of the JAC called for a joint rally to protest against the recent incidents of some Adivasi organisations obstructing the teachers of the plains tribe community from attending to their duties in various State-run schools in Bhadrachalam division. However, the district police have refused permission to the JAC to hold the rally on Thursday, citing law and order issues. Protest by AdivasisMeanwhile, several Adivasi organisations have decided to hold dharnas in all mandal headquarters in the district in the next few days to press their charter of demands including removing the plains tribe community from the ST list, scrapping the Chellappa Commission on ST reservation and upholding the constitutional rights of Adivasis in the Fifth Schedule areas.
