MCAs have rejected a Sh35 million reallocation to the Kwale Water and Sewerage Company, this despite the county experiencing a shortage over unpaid bills. Maone said the water company is used as a cash cow by a few individuals. “The executive did not propose in the supplementary budget the Kwale Water Company allocation and so the money should go to the original vote,” he said. But others, including Mwanamisi Libondo, Omar Kietengele and Suleiman Nzala, opposed the amendment saying they should end the water shortage. The company owes Kenya Power and the Coast Water Board millions of shillingsThe Finance, Budget and Appropriation Committee had allocated the money in the 2015-16 supplementary budget to end the one-month water shortage.
