Krishna lobs quit letter

Krishna, a Congress veteran who once headed the Karnataka government and later served as the country's external affairs minister, resigned from the party's primary membership today. "I am herewith tendering my resignation to the primary membership of the Congress party," the 84-year-old said in a one-line letter to party chief Sonia Gandhi. Party sources confirmed that Krishna had written to Sonia but said the All India Congress Committee was yet to take a call on whether to accept the resignation or not. "I have no information," quipped the chief minister who didn't entertain any more queries. "It is hard to believe," state party president G. Parameshwar said.
