WellSouth chief executive Andrew Swanson-Dobbs said patient portals help GPs reach more people with less visits. Kiwis may be getting free mobile data to help them avoid unnecessary GP visits, thanks to a Southland test run. If they decide the concept was successful, the free data plan would be rolled out throughout the country. Patients were able to access the Health Promotion Agency website along with two patient portals: ConnectMed and ManageMyHealth. WellSouth data showed the patient portals had freed up "hundreds of hours" of administration time in Southland each month.
