Kit Siang: SOP needed for PH leaders in criticising each other - Nation

PETALING JAYA: "Friendly fire" among Pakatan Harapan (PH) politicians could lead to negative perceptions and awful consequences, says Lim Kit Siang (pic). The DAP advisor was commenting on the public spat between PH leaders of late, and urged them to stop making any overt attacks without first discussing and getting the green light from their own parties. "While no one wants any restriction on freedom of speech and expression, it is also important to ensure that the cohesion, unity as well as a common sense of purpose that Pakatan Harapan is not undermined or even destroyed by unbridled speech and expression," said Lim.He called on PH leaders to agree to a standard operating procedure (SOP) when criticising of other PH leaders. If such an SOP did not work out satisfactorily, he said, the PH Presidential Council should step in to come up with a more satisfactory mechanism.Lim is not the only one to express his concerns over this state of affair.Earlier on Saturday (Dec 22), Bersatu strategist Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff also commented on the issue, saying that PH leaders should not fight among themselves in public. "I am not concerned with politics, I am more concerned with politicians. Of course we can differ in views, it must be celebrated but pointing and launching missiles at each other is audaciously puerile," he said.
