Kevin Pringle: we have four governments, but one set of mistakes


How much difference has devolution really introduced into how the UK’s component parts are governed? In terms of conventional politics, it’s a lot. In Scotland, we even have different income tax rates from the other nations, which is a pretty significant indicator. Across the board, we have increasingly divergent policy agendas being pursued by the four administrations in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast. In the normal course of things, these parties might agree on what day of the week it is, but not much else.
