‘Normally I’d never consider Venice in August — but at the moment it’s magnificent’

Bucket-list break✉ I am in my sixties and one of the bucket-list brigade (“Bucket-list brigade are having the last laugh”, last week). After my husband died of a long illness, I decided to see as many places as possible before I reached 70. Travelling solo in organised groups, I’ve seen Vietnam, Peru, India and the highlights of Central America (over six countries) in the past few years, and I’ve also visited my son and family in Melbourne. I decided to do the most difficult places first, so New Zealand and Canada are still on the list for my seventies, while my planned trip for this year on the Silk Road is now on hold. I’m so glad I did it.
